Birth Stories

Marshall Jackson C.

Well, it went great!!!!

After being told I would need to induce on Monday, Baby C. just decided to make it happen on Sunday!

I woke up at 7:30 AM, and my water broke, and I knew immediately that I had great luck. We headed to the hospital, and started the process of a very relaxing birth. I used a birthing ball, moved around in all my best yoga positions, and gradually continued to efface. Only the last 2 major contractions, between 8 - 10 cm actually, I thought -- maybe I cannot handle this..... in fact, my moment of what was I thinking???? And why did I ever have sex with my husband??? But then the doctor said let's push, and 3 pushes later -- I had a beautiful baby boy.

His name is Marshall Jackson C., weighing in at 7.3 ounces and 20.5 inches long. ?I love him dearly. Breast feeding is going well, and I just love him to pieces.

I arrived back at home on Tuesday -- I wish I had my body back immediately, but I know it will take the summer to get there. However, that breastfeeding really helps put things back faster!!!!

I am so grateful for my experience at yoga -- it was just wonderful. I know that it made me mentally stronger and successful in reaching my birth goals. Thanks to each of you for helping me through a very fun pregnancy.

My 5 year old daughter is doing okay, and seems to be better because he is a boy, and maybe feels less "replacement" issue. She and I just planned a trip to New York for Fashion Week in September. The first 5 year old to spend time at the catwallks, but hey - that is why I think I got my girl first!!!!

I was new to Richmond when I took my first round of classes with Leslie and baby #1 (now twenty one months). I'm now almost 5 mos. pregnant with #2 and will sign-up soon. I loved being around other pregnant women and embracing our natural state. I also met some great friends in my neighborhood through the classes, and we really have a wonderful foundation to our friendship through experiencing the class together.
